Create your Goal-Setting Map for 2019
Step 1: Look at the upcoming year and DECIDE what you want to accomplish with your game, your education, your relationships, whatever is important to you. Be sure the goals are realistic to your circumstances and current abilities.
Step 2: Put together measurable progression goals that work backwards from your target to today, ideally broken down in quarters of the year. Keep in mind your overall target. What benchmark can you put in place for the end of a certain month? By Spring Break or the end of summer? Breaking big goals into smaller segments and time periods will make taking action more attainable.
Step 3: Now that you have four specific benchmarks, go deeper with your first benchmark. You have a target for, say, spring break. Break that target into two smaller benchmarks: one for the end of February, then one for the end of January.
Step 4: Set up what you can during the month of January to close the gap between where you are today and your January goal. A set amount of times per week you want to do something to improve or a certain number of minutes per week you will use to improve yourself towards your target.
Step 5: Put these items on your calendar to do in the month of January. Make a commitment to yourself and schedule them! You’re more likely to accomplish the tasks if you prioritize them in your calendar ahead of time.
Final Step: Use the last two days of each month and each quarter to review your progress. Once you’ve spent time reviewing, change or adjust your goals as needed for the next period. This will help you move closer to your next benchmark.
You’re on your way to an awesome 2019!!
