Setting Goals
Setting goals and tracking progress is an important part of any athlete's development, and it is especially important for you as your are trying to reach your next level this year. Not only does it help you focus on areas of improvement, but it will also give you a sense of accomplishment as you work towards your goals.
Here are some tips for helping you set goals and track you progress over time:
Set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals: SMART goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound, and they are a great way to help you focus your efforts and stay motivated. Set goals that meet these criteria, and break your goals down into smaller, more manageable steps.
Develop a plan: Once you have set your goals, develop a plan for achieving them. This might involve setting aside time for yourself to go through specific drills or practices, seeking out additional coaching, training or feedback, or finding ways to incorporate your goals into your daily routine.
Track your progress: Track your progress towards your goals, as this can help you stay motivated and see your progress over time. This might involve keeping a log of your training sessions, tracking your performance in games, or using tools such as video analysis to identify areas of improvement.
Celebrate your accomplishments: Finally, be sure to celebrate your accomplishments along the way. This could involve recognizing your progress with your family or coach or team, preparing to award yourself with small tokens of appreciation, or simply taking the time to acknowledge your own hard work and dedication.
By following these tips, setting goals and tracking your progress over time will help you stay motivated and focused on your development.
